Don McNulty

Hi!
My wife and I live in Coquitlam, British Columbia, Canada, which is a suburb of Vancouver. We are a half hour drive from the US border and about a six hour drive from Portland.

I am a retired accountant, I have always liked looking at art and illustration so I started drawing and painting in ink and watercolor when I retired. I have no formal art training other than some continuing ed drawing courses. I enjoy reading drawing books and playing with art materials.

I am currently carrying around, left to right, Holbein waterbrush, #8 brush, #14 brush, Pentel brush pen, Staedtler Lumocolor marker, Shin Han Art Touch marker, Uni-ball Vision micro pen, Sakura fine Gelly Roll pen and a Lamy Safari pen with Noodlers Polar Black ink. It seems I am mostly using the Gelly Roll and the Lamy.

Also in my kit is the large sketchbook, 8.5 x 11 inches, the small 5x7 inches. The watercolor palette is a Yarka student one but I found the paint was all sort of pastel so I took it out and put in mostly Davinci tube colors. The plastic lid is a good mixing tray.

Here are a couple of recent efforts. I post my stuff at

I enjoy looking at Urbansketchers every day. So many wonderful, inspiring artists. Portland is going to be a joy.

See you there!

Don

  10. How Residential Electric Solar Systems Work: As it is generated, solar power is fed into the home and is used first before you draw power from the grid. This means that you are directly reducing the power bill by the amount you would have otherwise charged for the electricity for each kWh of solar power used in the homes. The key financial advantage of solar power is this reduction in your power bill.
